Taking fashion slow and steady

Did you know that

Right now, there's a big shift happening in fashion. We're moving away from buying lots of cheap clothes to thinking more about what we buy – the Slow Fashion Movement.

Understanding Slow Fashion

Slow fashion is like taking a deep breath in a fast-moving world. It's choosing clothes that are made to last instead of buying new ones all the time. It's about quality, not quantity.

You might wonder why this matters, especially for young folks like ourselves India. As we become more conscious consumers, we're starting to question the impact of our purchases – on the environment, on society, and on our own lives.

The Problem with Fast Fashion

Fast fashion might seem cool because you get new styles all the time without spending much money. But it has a dark side – it's tough on the environment and the people who make the clothes. That's why thinking about where our clothes come from and choosing better-made ones is becoming a big deal.

Slow fashion isn't just fashion – it's a statement, a movement, a choice for a better tomorrow.

What does sustainability mean to everyone?

Sustainability has become a buzz-word, and hardly any brand is end-to-end sustainable because that's just not possible. By end to end what I mean is from getting the cotton planted, using eco-friendly fertilizers and pesticides, harvesting using green methods, being ethical to each and every worked along the value chain. It's a marketing gimmick to call yourself sustainable without actually defining what sustainability means to you and the people around you.

Sustainability for me does not mean just using organic materials or eco-friendly processes. It's about making clothes that last longer and thinking carefully before we buy something new.

Here's where Explicit comes into the picture. We have this unique collection called 'The Undo Line' that's all about giving you choices – like jackets where you can take off the detachable sleeves. It's cool because it means you can change how things look without needing a whole new outfit.

I also want to make make sure the garments do not go to waste - for which I am planning The Revival Line soon, where your garments never go to waste. We upcycle them, or someone else wears these pre-loved garments. For us, this is also slow fashion in action by reducing waste.

Why Slow Fashion Matters and Why WE Matter

Choosing slow fashion means picking clothes that tell a story – about who made them, where they come from, and how they're made. It's about becoming part of a community that values quality over quantity, that sees fashion as an extension of individuality and not just conformity.  For young, stylish folks in India, this is a way to stand out and do good at the same time.

Every time we pick a piece of clothing that's made with care and meant to last, we're making a small choice for a better world.

So let's get together and think about what we wear. It's about looking good, feeling good, and doing good – and that's what slow fashion is all about.

Let's try it out, not just for us but for the planet. Let's make our clothes care about the future just as much as we do.
